Shifting Patterns, Shaping Change
Therapy to support you in understanding your past, living more fully in the present, and building the future you want.
Online Clinical Psychology Sessions:
I work with people who might present to have it all together, but inside feel stuck in patterns they can’t shift. You might find yourself repeating cycles with partners, struggling to feel secure, or being harder on yourself than anyone else could be. Past experiences of relationships, your upbringing, or trauma, may continue to shape how you relate to yourself and others.
Sometimes these patterns show up as perfectionism, relentless self-criticism, or pressure to perform; sometimes as uncertainty about who you are or how to express your identity authentically. Others notice it around food, body image, or control, which can chip away at confidence or wellbeing.
If this resonates, therapy can help you untangle these patterns, understand where they come from, and build more secure, grounded ways of relating to yourself and to others. My work blends schema therapy, CBT, systemic and compassion-focused approaches to create lasting change, helping people feel steadier, more confident, and more connected in their lives and relationships.
I work with individuals and couples on a range of challenges:
Low self-esteem
Anxiety disorders (e.g. social anxiety, panic attacks, excessive worry)
Perfectionism
Low mood / depression
Relationship difficulties
Trauma / PTSD
Eating disorders
Sexual difficulties
Background and approach
I am Dr George Bougas, a London based HCPC-registered clinical psychologist. I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from King’s College London.
I have further accreditation and experience in:
cognitive behavioural therapy (BABCP Accreditable)
systemic approaches (AFT Foundation Level)
compassion-focused therapy
schema therapy
psychosexual therapy
I have worked in specialist services supporting adults, young people, and couples with a range of difficulties, ranging from stress to severe psychopathology, in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
My experience includes working at
several national specialist teams (clinic for psychosis, adoption and fostering and psychosexual).
talking therapy services (common mental health problems)
health services (cancer support and brain injury)
eating disorders
forensic and prison services (severe mental health problems)
I have a particular interest in supporting people with low self-esteem and conducted my doctoral research in this area by examining the effect of a novel intervention.
The above allow me to adopt an approach that is integrative, evidence-based, and tailored to each client. I aim to create a safe, collaborative space where clients can explore their experiences, gain insight into patterns, and build the skills and confidence to create positive, lasting change.

I offer a free, 20-minute consultation to give you the opportunity to ask questions, discuss your needs, and see if we’re a good fit. This session is relaxed and informal with no pressure to commit to therapy. It’s simply a chance for you to explore how I work, what therapy could look like for you, and whether it feels like the right next step.
